In the past year Brad Feldman has taken us to many businesses throughout western North Dakota Many new businesses have opened while some existing businesses have either moved or closed In this weeks special edition of Around Town Brad Feldman looks back at some of the biggest business news of the year Open Probably one of the biggest business stories of the year in North Dakota had to do with the sale of Bobcat In June Korea based Doosan Infracore agreed to pay four-point-nine billion dollars for the utility equipment and attachments manufacturing business The sale became official in late November 2007 is also the year the largest sporting goods store in western North Dakota opened The new Scheels All Sports Store in Kirkwood Mall opened in June Bismarck also saw plenty of new development Two new hotels will be coming to the north side of the Capitol City A Hampton Inn is being built on Mapleton Avenue Also a Candlewood Suites is going up near the North Super Wal-Mart in Bismarck New retail stores also opened Furniture Row opened on Highway 83 in North Bismarck The new TJ Maxx Tuesday Morning Dress Barn and Shoe Carnival opened in the Pinehurst Square Shopping Center This past year several new restaurants have opened The Golden Corral Panchero s Ruby Tuesday and Great Tacos all opened in Bismarck Businesses have also made some changes this year David and Nancy Turner bought Scotty s Drive In on East Broadway Avenue JD s Barbeque in Dickinson is also moving into a new space of its own Dickinson s Big Sky Athlete moved into its own larger building in North Dickinson The Gateway Fashion Mall in north Bismarck has a new look and several new stores Rumors are still flying around regarding other major national chains interested in the mall Plenty of other businesses made headlines in 2007 Bismarck will be getting North Dakotas first Gold s Gym A new coffee shop opened in the Bismarck Public Library With all that has happened this past year we can only hope 2008 will be as exciting Brad Feldman KX News
